Shih-Ting Huang


Dr. Huang holds her Doctor of Musical Arts in Violin Performance and Pedagogy from the University of Houston, Master of Music in Violin Performance from the College-Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati, and Bachelor of Music Education from Taipei Municipal University of Education (TMUE).  Led by Andrzej Grabiec, she won the concerto competition of University of Houston, Moores School of Music in 2001, and was one of the finalists of the concerto competition of Texas Music Festival in 2002.  

Dr. Huang has appeared in National Symphony Orchestra (Taiwan), National Taiwan Youth Orchestra where she was the concertmistress, Aspen Festival Orchestra, Clear Lake Symphony, Orchestra X, Houston Grand Opera and Houston Ballet Orchestras.  She is the concertmistress in DVD "P.D.Q. Bach in Houston" and currently performs with numerous ensembles in Houston.  

Her chamber music tutors include Sandra Rivers, Lee Fiser, Dr. David Tomatz, Lawrence Wheeler, Timothy Hester, Andrzej Grabiec. She has performed in the masterclasses given by James Tocco, Sylvia Rosenberg, Almita Vamos, Rugiero Ricci, William Preucil, Lynn Chang, James Buswell, and Tákacs String Quartet.

Piano was her first instrument when she started her music study at age five, and Collaborative Keyboard was her minor during her D.M.A. study. She had accompanied for contestants in Aspen Music Festival, CCM, and TMUE, and worked as church choir director and church pianist at a few churches. She has been accompanied in all of her student recitals since 2004.

Dr. Huang was a faculty of the New Heart Christian School of Music (2003 - 2012), New Heart String Camp (2007-2011), Houston Taiwan Institution for Senior Citizen (2003-2010,) Suzuki Academy (2007-2009), Cy-Fair College (2009-2011), and was the School Director of New Heart Christian School of Music (2010-2012).  Besides teaching, she also hosts a classical music show "Sky Theater" of the Texas Chinese Radio.  She has received Suzuki teacher training units 1-3, and currently resides in Cypress, TX.
